From the town centre, the road climbs nicely, with the sometimes rather sloppy cobblestones clearly an aggravating factor.

Somewhat Flemish indeed, lol as you turn up to the Resistance Monument. Nice view once you get past the top

A beautiful picturesque climb. I tell myself this is the most "Flemish climb" we have in the region. The climb starts with good running bricks in a small village street. The last part of the climb is a nice hollow road in the shade of the trees with bad cobblestones. The trick is to really pull through there. If you're up there you have a nice view over the surroundings. If you are in the neighbourhood of Markelo I would definitely include this climb in your tour.

By the way, you can make some more loops around the Markelose Berg. There are a few small climbs here like the Traasweg (can be climbed from 2 sides) and the Wenninkweg. It is also nice to take the cobblestones around Stokkum.

In terms of landscape a very nice climb. If you are in the area I would definitely take it. Piece of cobblestone and the view at the top is worth it.
