a wonderful climb. little traffic starting out at 9am. tricky last 1.5km with 10％ gradient after the 'Superbagnere' sign because you can see the top so clearly. the cafe at top was open for a great café and juice. fabulous descent on good tarmac.

Fantastically beautiful climb, what views, if you have the energy for this of course ;-). Here the devil is in the tail, the last kilometre, is "brutal" as a fellow climber said. From the top, you have a great view. Definitely do it!
Fantatisch mooie klim, wat een uitzichten, als je hier de energie voor hebt natuurlijk ;-). Hier zit het venijn in de staart, de laatste kilometer, is "brutal" zoals een collega klimmer zei. Vanop de top heb je een prachtig uitzicht. Zeker doen!

Col très agréable, tant dans la montée que dans la descente avec de superbes paysages. Je ne l’ai pas trouvé si dur, la pente s’intensifie un peu dans le dernier km mais pour un hors-catégorie il m’a semblé plus simple que l’hospice de France par exemple dans le coin, notamment grâce à une pente très régulière durant toute l’ascension et 1-2 replats.

Nice climb with especially in the second part beautiful views. At the top, enjoy the departing paragliders and the beautiful view over the valley. A nice downhill run for dessert.
Mooie klim met vooral in het tweede deel prachtige vergezichten. Bovenop even genieten van de vertrekkende parapentevliegers en het prachtige uitzicht over het dal. Lekker lopende afdaling als toetje.

You leave Luchon via the well-known thermal springs for the relatively easy opening kilometres where I choked on a short steep part of 12％. The course of the river is followed upstream on an irregular ascent. When you turn right at the end of Vallée du Lys, the final 9 km. of challenging hairpin turns against the mountainside without trees with fantastic views on the mountain scenery around Luchon starts. Nice wide road to the small ski station with hardly any traffic in the summer and on the top empty apartments, the "Grande Hotel" which has lost some of its old glory (1922), and especially hikers who together with the paragliders (wind) occupy the mountain.
For years people in Luchon have been dreaming of a climbing time trial in the Tour, the attention this beautiful climb certainly deserves again.

Je fietst Luchon uit via de bekende thermen voor de relatief gemakkelijke openingskilometers waarin ik me toch even verslikte in een kort steil stuk van 12％. Via onregelmatige stijging wordt de loop van de rivier stroomopwaarts gevolgd. Als je de weg rechts afdraait die verder doodloopt op het einde van Vallée du Lys start het uitdagend pittig slot van 9 km. met 12 tal haarspeldbochten tegen de bergflank op zonder bomen met fantastische vergezichten op het bergdecor rond Luchon. Prima brede weg naar het kleine skistation met in de zomer amper verkeer en op de top leegstaande appartementen, het "Grande Hotel" dat wat van zijn oude glorie (1922) heeft verloren, en vooral wandelaars die samen met de parapente vliegeniers (wind) de berg inpalmen.
Men droomt in Luchon al jaren van een klimtijdrit in de Tour, de aandacht die deze mooie klim zeker terug verdient.
