This entire route along the coast is 5 stars for the tourists and the mountain bikers. For them it is a no brainer. Beautiful gem. 2 stars for the hard riders as it must be said it is largely unpaved except for the steeper sections (which is really appreciated regardless). However, even for the hard riders I would like to make a case that this is probably still your best bet traversing Parc Natural Serra d'Irta. Problem is lack of available alternatives in this region. Problem is lack of available alternatives in this region. You got three other North-South options. Either take a train, take the N road with moderate and fast traffic, or take a 20km detour through Sant Mateu (and skipping all major climbs/sights or adding another 30km to get to Peñíscola and Alcossebre). Perhaps, you may decide not to do either 3 and commit yourself to either side of Serra d'Irta, but if you do travel latitudinal you have a compelling option here along the coast. Just make sure to bring a set of spare tires and mechanic kit. They might/likely come in handy.
