In Tangines centre you better take the road that runs east and parallel to the route, over Les Montants, Les Chaux, Les Combes and Rond. Slightly past Fry turn left to get back on the main road. In this way you avoid the rather busy traffic. This alternative route is quite passable.... read more

Not a difficult climb, ideal to start with, for me as a round with Joux Plane (North) from Samoens. Busy with traffic though and the village of Les Gets was 1 big MTB wahallaha in my case due to the World Cup race.

One of the few cols with a regular course. This is probably because it is an important and busy connecting road.

The proposed alternative is a nice and very quiet 1st part of the col.
