Straight ahead, the Liberation Cross.
The panorama glimpsed briefly from below becomes vast. The hills of the Morvan surround the pretty city of Autun, where you can see the Roman remains: theatre, temple, ramparts...
Once you've passed the orientation table, you'll want to head back down to take a closer look at these thousand-year-old stones.
A great climb that can be combined with a cultural and historical visit.
What could be better?
A good, interesting climb with very uneven gradients. Some sections sting a little.
The two roads leading up to the gigantic Liberation Cross are fairly well surfaced.
Up there, the panorama of the Morvan nature park is quite pleasing.
The views of the town of Autun, its cathedral and its slag heaps are there for the taking from the start of the climb.
A very pleasant climb!
