Via een verkeersluwe woonwijk krijg je meteen hoge percentages te verwerken, en duik je vervolgens het bos in alwaar je over een dubbele smalle betonstrook je weg vervolgt. De percentages nemen gelukkig geleidelijk af, met uitzondering van een enkele uitschieter na. Het dichtbegroeide bos valt als een deken over je neer.
Tot zover het goede nieuws.
Het slechte nieuws is dat één of andere ingenieur het "lumineuze idee" had om elke 100 meter een afwateringskanaal dwars over de weg in te planten, waardoor je telkens weer door een put van 8 centimeter diep en 30 centimeter breed moet worstelen. Het verpest de ganse beleving.
Moesten deze goten er niet geweest zijn, dan was deze klim zeker 4 sterren waard. Nu geef ik hem er amper 2...

Heel leuk klimmetje met in het midden een stukje dat boven de 10％ gaat. Wel jammer van die putten waar je bovenop doorheen moet. Omgeving is top, wegdek van de klim goed.

Deze klim begint rustig maar na enkele honderden meters kom je al dicht bij de 10％ en even verder waar de weg smaller wordt en het een holle weg wordt in een prachtig stukje natuur gaat het plotseling steil kronkelend omhoog en even steil als de er naast gelegen Kesselberg. Eens boven heeft men nog niet lang geleden 2 smalle betonstroken van elk 60 cm breed aangelegd zodat je met een wegfiets ook verder kan richting top van de Meesberg . Deze 2 betonstroken lopen over een afstand van goed 800 meter nog opwaarts en op het einde wordt het een smalle betonweg die nog 7800 meter lang is en licht blijft omhoog lopen tot je aan de top van de Meesberg komt. Deze laatste 1,5 km lopen door een prachtig bos en in dit bos is ook een schitterend maar zwaar mountenbike parcour . Gisteren reden er vele tientallen wielertoeristen en ook enkele profs naar boven . Kortom nog een pareltje in het Hagelandse fietsparadijs.
