Jagdschloss Platte from Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg

Beautiful long climb to the Platte. Climb runs almost entirely through the forest, which is nice in hot weather because of the shade, but unfortunately you do not have many nice views. The first part of the climb, cars're still allowed and the road surface can be bad at times; from the moment the path becomes car-free, the asphalt is very good. At the top, you arrive at the hunting lodge, from where you have a small view of Mainz. For a really nice view of Wiesbaden and Mainz, you have to walk 200 metres along a gravel path and then through the forest (only possible with bike in hand)....

The ascent via the Graf-Hülsen-Weg is the quietest climb up the Taunus and therefore my insider tip. It has also recently been completely resurfaced and is therefore very easy to ride. At the bottom, the route leads through the beautiful Goldsteinbach valley before turning left into the forest and tackling a decent ramp. Further up, the route climbs moderately through a beech forest until it becomes steep again shortly before the Platte hunting lodge. From the hunting lodge you have a great view of the Rhine plain; the restaurant is also recommended!
