Very peaceful road from Ambergate to Alderwasley. The first couple of hundred metres are very steep and although slightly easier, it does continue to rise sharply for about 1km. After the farm it flattens out, with the occasional bit of flat/downhill to recover. It's then a steady slog up to the top. Road is quite narrow in places with the occasional blind bend so beware of oncoming traffic or descending cyclists. If you wanted to carry on climbing, head for the masts at Alport Heights, from where you can get some brilliant 360° views (rumour has it you can see the Welsh Mountains from up there).
