Hastoe Hill is probably the easiest climb out of Tring, if we are discounting a couple of climbs down towards Berkhamsted as being "out of Tring". It depends where you're trying to get to. However the Hastoe Hill climb gets you to the highest point in Hertfordshire, if you continue through Hastoe and up to the top of Shire Lane. The lower part of the climb is in common with the Marlin Hill climb, and is pleasant enough. After the turning off you go through a wooded part that can get muddy in winter, and then it's more open. Maybe the gradient does push double digits in the middle, but it's still easier than Marlin Hill. I have used Hastoe Hill for hill reps, it's good for that with a relatively steady gradient and very light traffic.
