Not too difficult "false flat" climb from the outskirts near the hamlet of Birken to Welkenraedt. With this climb, you ride indoors to Welkenraedt and avoid the very busy Lütticherstrasse and Neutralstrasse in the route. Views all around are fine throughout the climb. However, the road surface did get into a bad shape in recent years.... read more

A long climb on a narrow and very rural road with the biggest part of the climb right at the beginning. After a flatter part there is a short final climb. The tarmac is moderate (there is usually a reasonable track) and the road surface can be dirty. Technically not difficult at all. But panoramic views (from Henri-Chapelle to the Aachener Wald) and a very quiet environment.
