Starts easy on a wide road, not busy, surface texture a bit rough but OK. This road keeps climbing to 295 metres in Wentwood Forest with 16% bits, but instead for this route we turn left onto a smoothly surfaced but brutally steep lane past some rather nice houses. Very difficult here, with traction a problem if it's wet. After that it is all easy, although after going left at the T junction there is gravel/mud and some potholes to watch out for on the narrow undulating lane. No views really, due to hedges etc. Worth doing for that killer mid section.
