Amazing climb with constant gradient and nice views.
Amazing climb with constant gradient and nice views.
A very gradual and pleasant climb to get to grips with the bigger climbs. If you're just starting out, this climb is perfect for learning how to manage your effort over a distance of around 9km. It's not usually overcrowded, but be careful in summer, when the sun changes direction in the afternoon and the uphill section is exposed, making it quite demanding.
This climb is not at all difficult and is a good introduction if you want to tackle the tougher climbs, such as the Col d'Eze, the Col de Vence or the Col d'Ecre. Much of the route is wooded, with the beautiful village of La Gaude just outside the forest. If you want to avoid the traffic, opt for the M218 or Avenue Mermoz at the start of the climb, which is a much quieter alternative. As soon as it joins the main road, the M18, it turns right again, ending up on the M18 just before the village of La Gaude.
For pass-hunters, this ascent continues as far as the Col de Peyron, at the entrance to the village of Saint-Jeannet.
