A nice climb with plenty of character. The first section is along a tree-lined road and the pitch of the climb is fairly low. After approximately 500 metres the road levels out and riders get their first glimpse of the increase ahead of them which gives you an idea of the work needed. The gradient then increases abruptly and can sometimes catch riders off guard as it’s steeper than you imagine it to be. The brow of the hill is the first peak as you pass between the farm on the right and the pretty church on the left.

Riders are then rewarded with a nice downward slope and sweeping s-bend as you pass under the railway bridge. Save your legs for the final push as the road meanders up and through receding trees as houses then begin to appear. Whilst this section of the climb is less steep than previous sections this is a deceiving long stretch to the final summit at the T-junction with High Road, Hockley.
