I only did the first part, which is really a connecting road. It doesn't look like it's going to be spectacular later on. But as a connection from Arabba to the Passo Giau, this is fine

The first kilometers ascend slowly, following the course of the Torrente Fiorentina river, along a straight road with slight curves and through 3 unlit tunnels (longest 300m.) to finally turn left upwards through some steep climbing hairpins to reach the village of Selva di Cadore (exit of Passo Giau).
After that a moment of recuperation with even a few descents through several small villages.
The climb ends with 6 numbered hairpins through the pine forest that count down to the pass height which, apart from a rifugio, is not very touristic. During the whole climb and on the summit regularly beautiful views of the impressive Mont Pelmo (3168m).
Refreshments are available on the way/top and in the scorching heat the fresh village fountain in Selva was a gift.

De eerste kilometers rustig stijgend, de loop van de bergrivier Torrente Fiorentina volgend,langs rechte weg met flauwe bochten en door 3 onverlichte tunnels (langste 300m.) om uiteindelijk links omhoog draaiend via enkele stevig klimmende haarspeldbochten het dorpje Selva di Cadore te bereiken (afslag Passo Giau).
Nadien even een recuperatiemoment met zelfs enkele dalende stroken door verschillende kleine dorpjes.
Slot van de klim bestaat uit 6 genummerde haarspeldbochten door het naaldwoud die aftellen tot de pashoogte die, op een rifugio na, weinig toeristisch is. Gedurende hele klim en op de top regelmatig prachtig uitzicht op de indrukwekkende Mont Pelmo (3168m).
Bevoorrading kan onderweg/top en in de verzengende hitte was de frisse dorpsfontein in Selva toen een geschenk.
Mooie afwisselende klim zonder extremen.
