Away from the hustle and bustle of Izoard for a while. If you take this route, it quickly becomes quiet, except for the flow of the stream. Asphalt is moderate, especially in the beginning there are bad stretches.

Really super nice to do if you start from Briançon you have the first 10 kilometres of Col D'Izoard and turn right at Cervieres. I was lucky to accidentally get on this road because d'Izoard was closed due to a triathlon. In hindsight, I was super happy about this because I wouldn't have wanted to miss this road and the beautiful nature in this valley.
Cycling up when you are nice and warm from Briançon is perfectly doable. With the beautiful views, the 8% sections in this climb were just a nice stretch to do.
Double recommended especially if you want to get away from the crowds and have cycled the Col D'Izoard or the Col de Lautaret and want fewer cars around you.

Beautiful climb that, as a side road of the Izoard, is hardly noticeable. From Briancon, follow the 1st kilometres of the Izoard to follow the arrows Les Fonts or Vallée des Fonts at Cervières. After the first kilometres, you already get a nice view of the Izoard wriggling through the landscape like a snake. Further on, the road is completely deserted; you climb to the top in peace. The road up never gets tricky, so it's enjoying every metre. The road stops at Les Fonts, just above 2000m, where you find a little fountain and some small eateries. Absolutely recommended!

Absolute aanrader!

Coming from the Izoard top during the descent to Briançon in Cervieres, I left the road on the right and cycled into the side valley formed by the mountain river La Cerveyette until the final village of Les Fonts.
I started across the river bridge through the village and cycled up the ridge above the village via several hairpin bends to a highest point (1883m) after 4 km.
Then a short descent to follow the valley via a fairly straight road next to the river for the last 6 km. gentle climb through small villages with hardly any houses to the +2000m end of the valley where the tarmac road stops.
Les Fonts consists of a few houses around a chapel and a rèfuge where the garden was full that day of eating and drinking mountain hikers who were quite surprised by a solo mountain biker.
Apparently quite rare on this route which is a real breath of fresh air with hardly any traffic but presumably the attraction of the Izoard is too great.

In August 2017 there was bumpy tarmac on the whole of my route !!!
Only in the inside of the curves sometimes a whole bite disappeared which demands your attention especially in the descent.
