Much has already been said by others. The last four km on the narrow car-free path make up for much.

My first mountain climb'it was perfect the elevation changes are doable for an amateur magnificent views and a flat section about halfway up genial

Left at around 19:00 on 4 August 2025.
Also that weekend a dip in summer in the black forest so fairly chilly in the evening, but it was dry and there were fewer clouds than earlier in the day.
On the first section up to the village in the evening, little traffic and the cars'that do pass by go well past you.
First part contains one trickier stretch, touching 10%, but it is not long. Otherwise nicely even.
Second part of the village, on the cycle path, is the most interesting. There is more to see there in terms of views, although you have to pay attention, as it all does not run evenly.
The 150-metre stretch in the last km before the 16% peak is a bit of a struggle, especially if you have the wind against you.
At the summit, I found the view truly amazing....... the snow-covered Alpine peaks in the distance.

Very nice climb that initially follows the rather busy B500. In time, you come to a sort of ski centre with a shop and catering facilities. This is followed by a difficult path accessible only to hikers and cyclists. The road is top quality and this is also where the steepest section of around 17% is located. This does not take too long. At the top, you have a perfect view of the Black Forest and can congratulate yourself on reaching the highest peak in this low mountain range in southern Germany.

Afterwards, I would have a drink at the catering establishment below the summit. The descent I would take further west. Although this is the B-road, you can really descend hard here. Really a lovely climb, all in all!

Nice gradual climb with at the end 3 km cycle path with treacherously steep parts. There it is car-free, but until km 5 a fairly busy through road. Nice views at the top over the whole Black Forest. Be sure to go past the lift to the real summit.
