The climb was fairly uneven, mainly in the shade, except at the end where the road seemed endless on tarmac that didn't feel at all good. I was very surprised to read some of the comments about the surface being good. I was there in September 2025 and the state of the road was appalling, with stone flows and gravel on the pavement. I was quite happy to do it on the way up and not on the way down, because that would have been a disaster waiting to happen!... read more

Fine climb with good road surface, not very special.

Fine climb that is part of my weekday after-work round trip. Note that in the afternoon, you have exactly the sun against you, which means you can't see much on some parts. Now there's almost no traffic, but you'll just hit that one car you can't see against the sun.
From 200m before Eyroles to St Ferreol the road has recently been asphalted and is nice and smooth. Note that on the descent in the top 2 hairpin bends there are quite a few pine needles and pine cones on the road, especially in late summer.

This beautiful climb in a very nice environment with the mountain bike done. Is very even with a relatively flat middle part. The col is like almost always in the Drome in the sun. Fortunately still only 28 degrees when I did it as first today.
In the middle you have a 500 m shadow during the morning.
Absolutely recommended because it is not too long. Road surface ok but just watch out for gravel stones. Little or no traffic.
The descent is super nice and very technical and much steeper.
