It is recommended to tackle this ascent from the roundabout as indicated on climbfinder map. I started from the Coop, and had a street crossing with a parking lot to navigate through. After, crossing over the highway bridge, the scenery begins to change a bit. Some shaded areas through a forest like landscape offers shade. The entire ascent is by no means scenic, you are rewarded at the top, in the restaurant parking lot. Minimal traffic on Monday early afternoon. Descent is narrow and steep. ... read more

Definitely recommend this climb 🚲
You get stunning views of the Zurisee and then when you reach the top there are a few restaurants to enjoy a coffee or have lunch.
The descent is also pretty stunning, through forests as well as country. Additionally, there are very beautiful views of the lake 👌 Unfortunately difficult to snap pictures coming down.
You definitely have to keep an eye open for traffic; there are quite a bit of cars going up and down, not to mention other cyclists.

The ascent from Pfäffikon starts immediately and remains constant at 9-10% until the restaurant "Luegeten". After the turn-off to Etzel, the gradient in the forest increases again sharply to an average of 12-14% and only eases briefly once on the way to the top of the pass. Definitely not a climb to roll up at ease! But the effort is worth it every time, as you are rewarded with probably the most beautiful view of Lake Zurich on the descent to Schindellegi.

Really nice demanding ascent, without any real possibility of recovery, full draft all the way to the top.
