A real test of pacing, if you go off too hard you’ll definitely regret it when you hit the steeper section in the middle. Patience is the word of the day. Mostly under tree cover until you near the top. Road surface adequate with light traffic.
The hardest climb in southern England east of the river Parrett. The focus of the climb is the ~500m in the middle that pushes 20%. Before that, one tries to conserve their energy for the steep section, afterwards one tries to finish the climb whilst recovering a little. The views aren’t great until the top, but on these gradients it doesn’t matter. Traffic was light and the drivers respectful, but still more than would be expected for such a narrow and steep climb. A must do for anyone nearby.
By far the hardest climb in the Mendips. Gradient is really relentless, when you think it's starting to ease off, it kicks off again! A must do if you like to suffer lol.
