Spicy thing, where you get tested quite a bit on your physicality. But unsatisfactory to end at a gravel path at the edge of the forest. Spicy thing, where you get tested quite a bit on your physicality. But unsatisfactory to end at a gravel path at the edge of the forest. Actually, from Reith you already go up false flat along the little river, which, however, should not have a name. The real climb starts just past the ski lift to the Wildschönau when you can turn back to Alpbach (i.e. away from the river) and is right there in the double digits, but doable in itself. However, the necessary traffic to the village which can be impatient on the turns. In the village, the climb weakens and you have to choose good street (past church). Then you have a bit of false flat, but just before the hairpins the party starts. Again: steep, but regular. So the 'top' at the end of the tarmac is a letdown after the work done. Those who really want to test the legs can also turn off as early as Reith (just through tunnel left, up the Bischofsbrunn). There you'll be treated to lactic acid walls until Alpbach, but nice views of the valley. In Alpbach you get back on the route.
