I am an amateur cyclist. Only attempted this hill during the London to Brighton bike ride. It's a killer, especially if there lots of cyclits around you. Once you stop, you cannot restart the climb... so all or nothing (in my experience). Amazing views at the top.... read more

Definitely worth including in your route. Irregular in character so your legs are going to feel this nice anyway. Only downside is the heavy traffic. Fortunately, British motorists are usually very polite and stay quietly behind you until they can pass.

Cool climb that pulls evenly steep. Ideal for riding at a tight pace uphill and seeing who remains in your wheel.
Road surface wasn't too bad by UK standards.

Rode this on the London to Brighton ride.

It's quite a challenge, made worse by riders who don't understand climbing technique and how to use their gears.

There is an amazing view down over Ditchling and a lovely ride down towards Brighton.
