Kleine afdaling tussenin

Irregular climb, small road, out of the crowds. Highly recommended.

Climb via quiet road to the plateau above Eys and Wijlre. From Knipstraat, you immediately go up via Leienhuisweg. then take the first road on the right. You then go over the viaduct of the Miljoenenlijn. At the end turn left along the railway, then right and you immediately go up the first steeper part of the climb. Then you descend a bit. The second steeper section follows where the road bends to the right, after which you bulge out onto the plateau. To get to the other side of the railway line you can also take the Leienhuisweg but this variant is nicer.

Even nicer than the other variant of the Dikkebuiksweg (and I had already given it the maximum score) because you get out of the built-up area even faster and the extra loop gives you a nice view over the Geul valley. In addition, the little road climbs nicely to the viaduct over the Miljoenenlijn.
After the viaduct, a slight descent after which the road climbs briskly - and through a hollow - until just past a WW2 memorial. Then a descent - in beautiful surroundings - after which the steepest part begins which involves real work. Then it flattens out to the summit. Beautiful scenery and a deserted road. Absolutely recommended.
