A real challenge and a gift for all lovers of the Flanders territory: its length makes it comparable to the Old Kwaremont, and its paved route along a tree tunnel makes us think of the Koppenberg.
This ascent, which is part of the itinerary of the Way of St. James to Finistère, crosses the shady Ovellas Forest. The pavement is interspersed with sections of cobblestones that, although perfectly passable with a conventional road bike, should be avoided on rainy days or in seasons when it may have accumulated a lot of mud.
For those who find it too hard to tackle it all at once, there are several rest areas with stone benches along the way.
The descent is more advisable by the asphalt road that runs parallel to this path.
It is also one of the most interesting ways to reach the beautiful village of Ponte Maceira from Santiago or Bertamiráns.
