The road opposite is closed to cars. It leads straight onto the magnificent historical village where the road is cobbled and pedestrianised (respect visitors' right of way, and maybe avoid busy times of day?).Go straight past the amazing church: you have to ignore culture on the way up if you are a serious hill cyclist (but you can admire it properly on the way down) and head up the Rue de St-Maurice. Beyond the village this becomes quite brutal on roughening tarmac. After a steep finish it is possible after a flat section to go left and continue climbing less steeply to the Montagne du Prieure via the alternative route there.
Locronan is a very nice picturesque village/tourist trap with old houses, church and lots of tourist shops. The start of the climb is at a small hamlet. Then you go fairly straight up and through the village. Beware of paving stones and tourists shouting ou and ah and certainly not cyclists. After the centre, the little street goes up steeper and steeper.
We ate crepes there, for which there are a few little houses. Village is definitely worth a visit, but whether to want to cycle there?
