From the main road out of Aywaille, it's left under the little tunnel and then the fun can begin. There is hardly any traffic and the tarmac is particularly good, especially at the beginning. You come into the hamlets of Kin and Stoque. The latter not to be confused with the infamous slope from Stavelot.
The views are awesome along the way. Very beautiful. Besides, the percentages are pretty mild. The bit in Stoque is by far the toughest though, but still doable for an Ardennes climb. As a variation on a theme, I definitely recommend heading up here!
Vanaf de grote weg uit Aywaille is het links af onder het tunneltje door en dan kan de pret beginnen. Verkeer is er nauwelijks en het asfalt is zeker in het begin bijzonder goed. Je komt in de gehuchtjes Kin en Stoque. Die laatste niet te verwarren met de beruchte helling vanuit Stavelot.
Het uitzicht is te gek onderweg. Erg mooi. Daarnaast zijn de percentages vrij mild. Het stukje in Stoque is wel verreweg het zwaarst, maar voor een Ardennenklim nog steeds goed te doen. Als variatie op een thema raad ik aan om hier zeker eens op af te gaan!
A hidden gem in this region. Beautiful tarmac, relatively long and nicely varied in terms of landscape. In addition, hardly any to no traffic. Cycling uphill is undisturbed, lovely. The initial phase around the hairpin bend is the toughest but doable.
Een verborgen pareltje in deze regio. Prachtig asfalt, relatief lang en mooi afwisselend qua landschap. Daarnaast nauwelijks tot geen verkeer. Ongestoord fiets je bergop, heerlijk. De beginfase rond de haarspeldbocht is het zwaarst maar prima te doen.
What a nice runner of a climb..narrow street with no traffic..at the first hairpin turn it is a bit tough but after that it is back to climbing at a nice pace..also continues endlessly.
Wat een lekkere loper van een klim..smal straatje met geen verkeer..bij de eerste haarspeldbocht is effe pittig maar daarna is het weer heerlijk op tempo klimmen..blijft ook eindeloos doorlopen
Maybe it was because of the praise below but I found 'm somewhat disappointing. Not 'super special', but in my opinion there are some nicer climbs in the Ardennes.
Misschien kwam het door de lovende reacties hieronder maar ik vond 'm wat tegenvallen. Niet 'super speciaal', wel leuk maar er zijn naar mijn mening toch best wel wat mooiere beklimmingen in de Ardennen.

I suffered here unexpectedly hard, but I am also a relatively novice cyclist with a moderate condition and a heavy bike. I would definitely recommend this one because of the beautiful views I was able to enjoy, at least at times when I wasn't bent over my handlebars in distress. Especially in the hairpin bend in the beginning it is very steep!
Ik heb hier onverwacht hard afgezien, maar ik ben ook nog een relatief beginnend fietser met matige conditie en een zware fiets. Ik raad deze toch zeker aan door de mooie vergezichten waar ik kon van profiteren, op momenten waar ik niet van ellende over mijn stuur gebogen lag tenminste. Zeker in de haardspeldbocht in het begin is het heel steil!

Mooie rustige klim, die begint onder een poort aan een drukke weg. Asfalt is matig, dit wil je die afdalen. Prachtige omgeving en verzichten.
It's been a while since I did this one (2018), but what I do know is that it's an extremely quiet climb in terms of traffic, with a few houses at the start, but you soon leave those behind. At the top you have a wide view. Just include it in your route if you're going to do the Redoute for example!
Het is al weer even geleden dat ik deze deed (2018), maar wat ik wel weet is dat het een uiterst rustige klim is qua verkeer, met in het begin een paar huizen, maar die laat je al snel achter je. Bovenop heb je een weids uitzicht. Gewoon opnemen in je route als je bijvoorbeeld ook de Redoute gaan doen!
Magnificent (unknown) climb in this region. Everybody is looking at the Redoute, but don't see the other gems in the area. Especially the start of the climb, in the middle of the nature, makes it such a beautiful climb.
Prachtige (onbekende) klim in deze streek. Iedereen kijkt hier naar de beruchte Redoute, maar zien daardoor andere pareltjes in deze streek niet liggen. Vooral het begin van de klim, heerlijk in de natuur, maakt het zo een pracht van een klim.

Absolute topfavoriet in de Ardennen, en als bonus ook nog eens prima in ritjes vanuit zuid Limburg te stoppen! De klim slingert echt prachtig omhoog, bocht na bocht en telkens met een fantastisch uitzicht op de vallei achter je. Er is praktisch geen verkeer, maar er zijn wel tientallen koeien die je soms verbaast aankijken. De stijgingspercentages worden nergens écht steil maar zijn ook nergens echt makkelijk, desondanks loopt de klim wel erg lekker. 10/10
