A major thoroughfare—a very wide road with heavy traffic. There is indeed a bike lane, but this climb is still quite unpleasant: it’s almost entirely straight, with a gentle incline that gets a bit steeper over the last few hectometers.
As well as being a direct link between Uriage and Brié, it provides an interesting "alternative route" for cyclists wishing to join Uriage and Vizille. The usual route from one to the other (via Vaulnaveys) is quite dangerous for cyclists in heavy traffic.
This hill is particularly pleasant to cycle down: the road is wide, in very good condition and offers perfect visibility.
