Terribly busy course. Also advised against descending because of very busy traffic in pits in the track. Once to climb for the Cotacol, but not twice.

As the other review says, not recommended. Incredibly busy, road surface on the sides is dull and the buildings don't make it any prettier. Plenty of nicer and quieter alternatives.

Just don't do this climb - and fortunately there are excellent alternatives - because it is, in a word, terrible. Traffic (including truck traffic) is a madhouse and the tarmac is particularly bad at the edges. Fortunately, I had the bike with thick anti-puncture tyres so they survived because it was riding large parts in the gutter and stopping regularly to pass the traffic jam behind you (rather than trying to overtake at impossible times).
Physically, by the way, the climb is challenging because you start cycling harder and harder to leave it behind as quickly as possible.... and then comes the long punchy middle section. That does wear you down.
