A very nice climb from the Teign Valley. Quiet, pretty, and not too steep, which is unusual for the area. The road was the old coach route from Tavistock to Exeter. One of my favourite climbs in Dartmoor. The profile is a bit unreliable, so I will break it down. The climbs starts with a short ramp around 150m long at around 8-10% from the bridge. It then sits at around 5-6% very steadily up through the woods. Last time I rode it this was well paved, but there were traffic lights because the... read more

The profile is a bit unreliable, so I will break it down. The climbs starts with a short ramp around 150m long at around 8-10% from the bridge. It then sits at around 5-6% very steadily up through the woods. Last time I rode it this was well paved, but there were traffic lights because the road had been narrowed by subsidence. A flatter section takes you from about 1.8km at the top of the woods to about 2.5km, where it ramps up a little bit before a short descent. After this at around the 3km mark is the steepest section, over 15% for about 100m. The route is then false flat to the village of Doccombe around 3.8km. Then comes climbing at around 8% until a brief flatter section. From about 4.3km to the top it is around 10%. The rather lumpy looking profile is perhaps due to the segmentation into 200m buckets.
