Isolated but evocative climb just a short distance from Florence. Limited traffic and a good alternative for training when you don't have much time, or to be tackled in summer since it is mostly in the shade. It is possible to descend by turning back at Villamagna and continuing in the opposite direction to the climb towards Case a Romolo.... read more

one of the least known and yet my favorite climbs in Florence. Not very trafficked and quite scenic too. Once you reach the top you can go all the way up to the Incontro Monastery and enjoy the view over the city or visit the tiny local church. Halfway the climb you will find the small village of Villamagna, where you can refill your bottles at a fountain if necessary. Good for intervals, not great for an FTP test due to the descent at the first third of the climb.
The climb connects you to a nice gravel segment heading to Le Corti, if you like, or to Nuovo Ranch and then Bigallo.
This climb is also a great way to bypass the heavy traffic towards Pontassieve / Rosano if you are heading towards Vallombrosa/Consuma.
