The first five kilometers are the same as the Passo Falzarego so you start the climb also from the center of Caprile directly through some hairpin bends along the church up the SR203. At the height of the hamlet Rucava you leave this route by turning right. (Signpost Colle/Selva/Passo Staulanza-Giau). Further twisting climbing strikingly regularly along rocks with iron nets secured against falling rocks and a short half-open tunnel.
You finally arrive at the highest peerless viewpoint Belvedere where you see deep down your starting point and frontal view of famous Monte Civetta. Definitely stop (briefly) as Marco Pantani did in 2002 during the queen stage of the Giro to leave here.
After a slight downhill you reach the church square of the picturesque village on the west side.
You can continue to Selva and then turn right through a series of hairpin bends down to the river (see Climbfinder other route) which flows back to your starting town for a perfect warm-up lap!
