From the Fasanelli refuge, the final 3 km are the most beautiful, with hairpin turns as you enter the Pollino Forest! Only attempt this if you’re in good shape; this is one of the most beautiful and challenging climbs in all of Southern Italy.
Salita dura che parte da poco fuori Rotonda dove si gira a sinistra per Pedarreto, questo è il nome di questa salita, e da lì inizia il calvario... sono 12 km con pendenza media dell'8.5% ma con diversi tratti a doppia cifra, la parte iniziale della salita è esposta per cui bisogna fare attenzione al caldo e al sole soprattutto d'estate, in compenso ci sono diverse fontane con acqua sempre fresca in cui buttarsi all'abbisogna... dal rifugio Fasanelli ci sono gli ultimi 3 km più belli, con tornanti e dove si entra nella foresta del Pollino! Da fare solo se si è allenati, questa è una delle salite più belle e dure di tutto il Sud Italia.
