I am only reviewing this slope even though I have done all three (Villongo and from Lago d'Iseo via Vigolo and the Strada Verde). Only this one because it was the climb that came closest to fraying the lats and lumbars of my poor back. The entire first part, right from the start from Grone, has a sequence of straight and hairpin bends with gradients that I would describe as overturning, arriving easy at 20%. After this hellish stretch, the landscape opens up and the road gives decidedly m... read more

Superlative!!! Undecided whether to put 4 or 5 stars. The beginning is nightmarish because of the gradients always between 10-16%. This is for about 3.5km. Then it seems to get easy but really the legs were getting used to the worst! Stunning view at the top as the last few switchbacks!

Superlativo!

After this hellish stretch, the landscape opens up and the road gives decidedly more respite. Enchanting, unspoilt scenery, scenery that some compare (with all due respect) to the Dolomites in Orobic soil. Do the one from Villongo and then I strongly recommend you also do the one from Lake

a climb not to be missed in the bergamasque area. you climb up from grone and the gradients are immediately high in a series of very beautiful hairpin bends, then the road becomes a straight stretch almost always in double figures for about 2 km, interminable...once these first hard kilometres are over the climb becomes more accessible and the landscape also changes with wide green valleys that are very suggestive. once you reach colli san fermi you turn left and start about 2 km almost always at 10% until you reach a huge square...from there next to the restaurant begins a cemented path at 5-8% along a few metres that leads to the top of the ballerino hill. you will find the map with all the peaks because from there you have a spectacular 360 degree view over the orobie. going up a few more metres on grass you will find the giant bench. often you will find people doing paragliding with colourful sails that are spectacular with a clear sky. special place. good asphalt up to san fermi then mediocre to get to the ballerino.

Very nice climb, quiet with traffic. Parts that are irregular though. Descent on the same side doable.
Descending on the other side is careful 20+% occurs.
Round trip to Lake Endine and back to Lake Iseo is very nice.

Very beautiful and challenging climb. The first few kilometres are terribly irregular. What is regular are the sections of 20 percent or so. The second part is less irregular but certainly not easy as the legs of most riders (including me) have already been tested. When you arrive in the village, you turn off in front of the inn for the last 1.5 km to the real summit.
