My wife and I ride a tandem (search tandem travels Pourtalet on YT) and we loved this ride. It was glorious. Not too steep. The gorge at the bottom is quite pleasant. You pass several power plants along the way that are approximately 100 years old. Lots of sheep and cows with bells. Even horses with bells. And the Pic du Midi Oussau at the top is stunning. This is a great ride.

Nice ride. Especially the first part from Laruns is a nice balcony section. Also at the lake, the views are beautiful.
I did this ride on a Monday in August and it was quite busy with traffic heading towards Spain. Even some trucks although the road is banned for that.
The ride is never tough and the length is not a problem anywhere either.

Mooie rit.

What a wonderful climb. Long but never really tough. The views are some of the most beautiful I have seen on a climb, especially the reservoir is enchanting. Not the quietest road, but never disturbing. Is definitely on m'n 'to repeat'-list.

Dikke aanrader.

It’s long long long but very scenic. Tough near the top . Lots of motorbikes the day I did it but very good surface. Cross the border in to Spain at top and celebrated with tapas and cerveza

Long climb from Laruns to the Pourtalet, not very steep, but ideal to get in and make altimeters. Nice views along the way, with on the right towards the col the famous pic du midi d'Ossau.
Quite a few other road users on and to the col, but no hindrance at all while cycling. Excellent road surface.

Prima wegdek.
