A great ride. Does get steep in many sections. Beautiful scenery. Moderate traffic. Nice pavement. Lots of other bicycles. Highly recommend this ride.
It's a long way from Menton, but, especially after St Agnes, the views are magnificent. Don't be fooled by the low percentages indicated, which are averages over 1km, because it climbs much higher in places!
The ascent of this col, which inspired the Trek Madone, starts steeply towards Sainte-Agnès. The first part is quite tough. Fortunately, the beautiful views of the Côte d'Azur and St Agnès make up for a lot. In the afternoon, there are many stretches with shade. After Sainte-Agnès, it flattens out and you leave the urban area and via a steady climb, doable but in the sun, you eventually reach the car park at the summit.
