Fantastic climb that climbs very consistently around 8%. The climb is only 8 kilometres long, and gives you beautiful views of the mountains on the south-eastern side. Overwhelming at times. The road is nice and quiet and you occasionally duck under the cable car. The road surface is fine, the descent on the other side is reasonable but soon gets worse. Top climb because of its beauty.... read more

From les Diablerets, the Col de la Croix has a consistently harmonious gradient of 7-8%, so the rhythm is easy to find. It gets really nice once you have passed under the cable car and come out of the forest. On the left, a beautiful view of the pyramides de gypse. At the top there is a small buvette, a pass sign and a memorial stone.

Les Diablerets (village) is already at ~ 1150 m (it can be reached, for example, from Gsteig via the Col de Pillon). From here, the last ~ 600 m on the north side are much easier than the ascent on the south side from Villars-sur-Ollon. What's more, it's pretty harmonic with gradients between 6 and 9%. The street is wide and in good condition. There's not much traffic. A must do.

Done in July 2019 as part of the loop Sanetsch/Cableway/Pillon/Croix.
Not too difficult, quiet, stunning scenery. The descent on the other side is fantastic - long & fast :-)
