A not so well known climb, but nevertheless pretty tough. I did it in combination with the Grand Colombier (this one started from Artemare). This climb starts with a small road from Gignez where the percentages are immediately quite high (about 12%). Recovering is difficult because the rest of the climb you will be cycling at about 10%%. The signs along the road telling you what is coming up the next kilometre are not really motivating. The climb has two peaks. The first comes after the tou... read more

Spicy climb with often 10% or thereabouts. Beautiful route, but I would not immediately call it a "hidden gem. Lots of forest, if very hot is nice, but few views. The other side, which I took as a descent towards Gr Colombier, is scenically nicer, more views

Mixed opinion. The road is in a bad state (especially disturbing on the way down), but it's so quiet! Not a car in sight. The view is nice, especially after the resort.

What a piece of shit!
The first slopes at 13% get you into the swing of things straight away, after that it's with what's left...
There are no great views up there, but there are some pretty mountain pastures.
Big gravel section in July 2023 :(

100% accurate review from Jparr
Nice climb, road in pretty good condition, very little traffic.
Did it on a very sunny and hot day....best is do take the climb in the morning, and you get plenty of sections in the shade of the trees.

the view at the top is....well...nothing to see :-) , for views goto the nearby Grand Colombier ... nevertheless the climb is a nice one

The climb has two peaks. The first comes after the tough 10 km, after which a short descent and last few hundred meters you ride to the second top. I cycled the climb at the end of the morning and it can be very hot in summer. In some parts you can take shelter under the trees, also on the other side of the road. There is hardly any traffic. You have at times a beautiful view over the Rhone. Despite the fact that there are two summits, neither has a beautiful view, which was disappointing after 10 km.
