What a discovery for me! I don't understand why this pass isn't better known. The scenery is breathtaking. The climb itself isn't the most difficult on this side, but coming from Léoncel and coupling it with the Col de Bacchus, it would be a magnificent stage in the Tour de France.
A very enjoyable climb, but above all a very enjoyable summit. Don't be fooled by the descent in the middle of the climb!
Nice alternative to the pass, less hard with some downhill passages, beautiful view in some places during the trip and at the finish
The Col de la Bataille fits nicely together with the Machine or the Rousset in a tour. Just like the Col de la Machine, you have here virtually the empire for yourself. The road surface is top, the heat can be sweltering. There is no place in the area to refill your water, so cross the plateau with full water bottles. I found the climb to feel tougher than the elevation profile suggests. The downhill to Léoncel can be hard because of the good road surface.
