Nice, typical Vosges climb. Fine descent in the middle to give the legs some air. Impeccable tarmac. Part of the descent to La Bresse not nice because the top layer of the road had been removed (May 2024). Hopefully there will be new asphalt soon!... read more

Wonderful road surface makes this a super climb. Sadly the place at the top wasn't open for a boisson. The descent to La Bresse is fast.......

Great pass. Make sure you don't burn out before the short descent as it's not over yet.

The first stretch from Gérardmer has some very steep pentes with pentes up to 17%, although there is only 10% average here, it is quite a push on the smallest mill for several hundred metres. Then slight descent, before taking the road to the left for the last 4km, of which the first 2.5 are quite tough with some stretches at 10%. Bulge out at the end to the top!

Over the entire climb it is nice tarmac and has nice views. The first climbing section is very busy though. After you turn left to go to la bresse, you are back at ease. You do have to be attentive in the descent to turn left on a bend that turns very back I was almost riding straight.

Part of the descent to La Bresse not nice because the top layer of the road had been removed (May 2024). Hopefully there will be new asphalt soon!

Leuke, typische Vogezenklim.

At the beginning it is steep, then it goes down a bit and then it is easy climbing. The descent to La Bresse is not great, because the road surface is bad on the main road and via Traverse la Roche the road is narrow.

Nice little climb if you spend the night in Gerardmer. Then you will have to go over it once. Just fun, but not really interesting

Not too difficult climb on good asphalt. Of course there are many beautiful climbs in the area, but if you want to go less far and higher than the Ballons, there is also plenty of climbing around La Bresse and Gerardmer.
