This is an under rated climb. It is not overly long or steep but it makes for some very nice climbing. We did this climb on a day when the rain threatened and the clouds were low. It was not a day to tackle the monsters. But it was a great day for riding. Tackling a climb that was a slightly lower elevation kept us out of the clouds and still gave us nice views. A real pass, accessible, nice short but a lot of passage over 10%

The climb is on fairly nice roads with some nice turns and a fairly steady 8%. The road was very quiet and is wide enough for cars not to be an issue. It is a very pleasant climb of medium duration. There are no overly steep ramps or crazy switchbacks. The descent is equally pleasant with generally good sightlines.
The businesses at the top were all ski related and were closed.
We combined this with a trip from Argeles Gazost to Lac d'Estaing and the Col des Bordères. It made for a very nice day.

Little known, wrongly so. A small Pyrenean pass, little used, irregular and great fun!

If you are staying in Aucun, at hotel " Le Picors ".... turn the corner, and straight into the thick of it. I first rode a bit towards Arren-Marsous as a warm-up. It's more of a climb and not a col, unless you're by mtb. Then you can continue via the forest behind to the col des Spandelles (+- 7 km). It is a spicy "runner" at times without being really tough, although you are almost constantly around 8 %. Beautiful green surroundings with a view of the 2267 m high Pic du midi d' Arrens. The wide road consists of perfect tarmac and at the summit there should be the possibility of ravitas by now.

For Tour followers unknown perhaps, but for cycling fans highly recommended. Not as challenging as other climbs in the area, but a fine and beautifully situated climb. It is a not too busy, but wide and good road. A few parts are more vicious (especially halfway up the climb after passing a few farms), but these are also interspersed with moments to recover. This climb is certainly not as irregular as you sometimes encounter in this area. We climbed in fog and drizzle (as is often the case in this area), so I didn't see much of the view. I think it is an open climb, so probably with nice views of surrounding mountains.
