It's a very pretty route, and feels like you're in the high mountains. The gradients are even, so you can keep up a steady effort. At the bottom, you'll find a typical Basque village.
A very nice, steady climb with a view of the finish. The view of the Aldudes valley is great.
Very pleasant route. For a good part of the pass, there's a very nice view of the surrounding landscape (mountains and the ravine you're following).
It seems to me that the gradient is steadier than indicated here.
There is also plenty of food at the top of the pass.
Do this climb by mtb, so you can do the return via the mtb route. Both routes are beautiful, tarmac up perfect with those fine route signs every km along the road.
Very nice road in very good condition, relatively calm traffic from the magnificent village of Saint Etienne de Baigorry. The climb isn't difficult in itself as you always stay on a gradient of around 6 or maximum 7%, so no major change of pace.
