This climb is the sensible alternative to Bullock's Farm Lane, it's a much more tempting prospect in terms of gradient, surface and width. Bullock's Farm Lane is avoided by most people in favour of Chipps Hill, but that doesn't mean it's easy. You can be lulled into a false sense of security on the lower sections, but then it starts to ramp up and you're hitting double digits before topping out at Wheeler End, the first brow. However there's still more climb to come, after the dip. It's more than you can sprint after the fast drop, but not as steep as what you've just done. (On the other hand, when descending, you can carry enough speed to roll onto the brow at Wheeler End without needing to go into climbing mode.)

Scenery wise, the first part is in a valley, so not many views, but once you reach Wheeler End the surroundings open up very nicely, over a grassy common.
