Tough going up. Dangerous off camber bend on the way down

The lead up is deceptive , dont go too fast .
When the real climbing starts you will KNOW.
Good luck !
Oh one more thing , be very carful if desending the switchback on the main climb part . It is very easy to end up on wrong side of road and cars may be coming up .(I speak from experiance).

Like a several of the climbs in this area Chalkpit Lane is a very pretty ride through the beech forest but ultimately marked down for me because of the traffic. The gradient means cars roar past in low gear and the narrowness means they often have to brake sharply to avoid traffic coming down.
That said, it's a good challenge and, with the 20% section, must make it one of the toughest in the area.

Brutal climb under the cover of the trees.
Reasonable going up and then once you hit the switchback it turns into a brutal battle of attrition with the steepest gradients before coming out of the trees as you crest and a nice spot to get your breath back across the road ahead.
