This is a non-trivial climb, not very regular and with hairpin bends up to 13-14%. The signs on the asphalt indicate the finish in the hamlet of Monte di Nese (which is the quintessential name for this climb), but you continue on and, after a short downhill stretch and a final climb at 8%, you will arrive in the locality of Castello (one of the hamlets of Monte di Nese) and treat yourself to a beautiful view of one of the prettiest terraces in the Orobic area (at least, when the weather is clement). Since it is a closed trail, when you descend, I highly recommend making a diversion to the medieval hamlet of Olera. Here on Climbfinder it is not traced, but it is a little more than 1km that leads to this isolated and very characteristic medieval village (of which I leave a photo).
The ascent is quite irregular at the top and therefore very strenuous. There are always very steep sections with gradients of over 10%. The tarmac is Italian throughout, with large cracks in the lanes. You pass through one or two small villages but no café or bar. The view is fantastic, all the way over to Milan.
A beautiful climb, continuing after the village of Monte di Nese you arrive at an esplanade with a magnificent view over the Po valley. An absolute must-see.
A nice climb for a morning outing. It starts off flat then climbs with medium gradients at 8% and with a few major climbs. It doesn't give much breathing space until you get to the village of Monte di Nese where it flattens out for a moment and then climbs 8% to Castello (which is no longer there, however). The road is wide and well asphalted, with almost no traffic as it is closed (not suitable for ring fetishists). I have always done it at dawn so I don't know what the weather is like. The view of the Bergamo area from above is pleasant.
L’ho sempre fatta all’alba quindi non so a livello climatico com’è.

An ascent with little traffic, some interesting climbs and beautiful pre-alpine views. Worthwhile in all seasons.
Salita poco trafficata, con alcuni strappi interessanti e bei panorami prealpini. Merita in tutte le stagioni.
The Monte di Nese is a classic climb of the area, quite rideable although with a couple of more tiring central climbs.
more tiring. Traffic is always fairly limited.
faticosi. Il traffico è sempre abbastanza limitato.
