I did this climb as the conclusion of a ride from Torrevieja to Batteria de Jorel. A day out to Carthagena starts with a bike ride right! It's special that the top is marked so early because you can still ride to the batteria on top of the mountain. You only get to know the glorious past of the region on these roads. Hundreds of years ago, there was a lot going on here. Now you can enjoy a nice climb, fairly quiet and that's good because the road is not wide in many parts. You start o... read more

You start off quietly but it seems that the builders found out that they had to go up anyway. Along the way, some military complexes from ancient times, all the way to the big defence fortress overlooking the bay of Carthagena. an ideal place to see attackers coming and being able to attack from above. Don't stop at this"top" continue up and really enjoy.
Then descend and ride into town for a delicious boccadilla and a drink.
