For those who like to ride off road I have ridden up Butser Hill using the Limekiln lane which is actually a Byway and another challenging route up the hill. Another track joins Limekiln towards the top, also a Byway and is another off-road route up Butser Hill and even steeper and more challenging than Limekiln lane in places. Both tracks start on the Ramsdean side of the hill. There is a third off road route just off South Downs Way opposite the Equine Therapy CIC. ... read more

One of the steeper climbs in the area. My Father in Law's nemesis. I've ridden this with him in glorious weather. Lovely climb to get the hear rate up.

A classic English lane. Narrow with gravel in the middle and a bumpy surface - but great views from the top. Flat along the bottom to start, before veering left uphill, then much steeper as it goes around the right hand bend and a grind to the top. Seems steeper than the profile suggests
