Box Hill is one of SE England's most famous picnic spots (see Jane Austen 'Emma'!) but it's equally famous for the unimaginatively named Zig Zag Rd. It was included in the road race in the 2012 Olympics for which the road was resurfaced and makes a good climb almost perfect. It won't kill you but you should be puffing when you get to the top – where the view is worth every turn of the pedals.... read more

Great fun and iconic. Road surface is decent and the traffic behaved itself

Why this is so well rated as a climb says more about the lack of climbs in the local region that the climb itself.

Box Hill attracts many cyclists from around London and Surrey. It's a fairly regular climb which is neither too long or too steep, but you can crank up the difficulty by increasing your pace accordingly. I would say it's gentler and with better tarmac than other nearby hills (Denbies from Dorking or White Down south for example).

There is a viewpoint that offers nice vistas on the surroundings... when it's not foggy!

I rode this in the Surry 100 closed road. It's built up to be really hard. Coming from Wales and cycling a lot in France I was surprised how easy it was. I have to admit to feeling a little disappointed. However it is a nice gentle hill with some nice views

Box Hill to raczej łagodny podjazd , doskonały jako pierwsze wyzwanie dla rowerzystów ,którzy chcą rozpocząć zdobywanie podjazdów. Na szczycie nagroda w postaci pięknego widoku na okolice.

Not a heavy valve in terms of gradients, it is rather a climb you can take relatively on the big plate. You can make it as tough as you want: take it easy on the longer stretches and push on the steeper ones, or ride your comrades completely squeamish on the almost full climb, there is something for everyone.
The switchbacks are a welcome gift for those who need to drop out, and for the victors the perfect place to look over the beaten ones!

Included in the 2019 Prudential Ride, "classic" in the UK, usually ending in a sprinters ball. Beautiful scenery, note: driving on the left, but you get used to it quickly!

Opgenomen in de Prudential Ride 2019, "klassieker" in de UK, meestal eindigend in een sprintersbal. Mooie omgeving, let op: links rijden, maar dat went snel!
