Beklommen 1 augustus 2019. Rustig verkeer, redelijke weg, mooie natuur. Kortom: aanrader
Much like the other end from Saint-Michel. Neither of these climbs are easy, but they're not long and never ridiculously steep. The only factor can be the murderous heat, so you'd do well to do these in the morning since you'll have more shade from the east flank of the valley, if it's as hot as during my rides here in July 2022. Similar views on the Fort du Télégraphe across the valley.
A very nice climb that you can do from 2 sides. You can do a nice clear round trip of about 26 km of which you climb half. I have done it from St. Martin (this one), then you have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It is very quiet, no motorbikes, tourists etc. and still worthwhile in terms of climbing kilometres and percentages. On the descent to St Michel, no other than local traffic is allowed.
After a day of Glandon/Croix de Fer and a day of Bellecombe it is a nice tour to take a break.
On to the Col de la Madeleine.
