Left from Lunde campsite in Aurland in early July. 17-C in the valley. The first kilometres to get out of the village are a bit busier due to traffic towards the Stegasteigen viewpoint. The hairpin bends follow in quick succession, overlooking the fjord. Once past Stegasteigen, halfway there is, another 2 km or so through the forest. Then you ride in open countryside towards the summit, where it was still about 4-C and quite windy. It's definitely worth riding a bit further on Gamle Aurlandsvegen. Slightly undulating kilometres on the snowy high plateau.

Begin juli vertrokken vanaf Lunde camping in Aurland.

A beautiful climb and road (snow road). There may be some traffic up to Stegastein, but after that there is little.

Beautiful climb!!! Gives 16 km not a moment's rest. Well asphalted and thus doable with road bikes. Until viewpoint Stegastein(9 km) nice view over fjord. Up to this point the road is relatively busy with tourists (cars) but as a cyclist it is easy to get around. After Stegastein it's a lot quieter and you ride towards the plateau and eternal snow. Also very beautiful.

Mooie klim!!

A climb where I could ride up at a nice, steady pace. Beautiful views of the fjord in the first half of the climb while riding between meadows and trees. Like everywhere in Norway, you soon get above the tree line in the 'high mountain landscape'. I personally saw that quickly, but it is still a very nice climb.
