I rode the Äulemer pass as the first warm-up climb in a loop starting in Glasshütte. The road itself is fairly large and and not too steep. The surroundings are not too spectacular on the way up, but you will be rewarded at the top as the view into the valley on the other side is much more scenic. Overall, the climb works fine as a connection road if you want to access the climbs south of Feldberg more quickly, and in addition avoid the trafic around the Schluchsee.
