It is best to climb the Alto Bianditz from this side, from Artikutza because the road surface on this side is much less good than from Karrika and also much narrower. It is a succession of bends and twists but also shorter. The first 4 km are very hard because of the high gradients and the change of gradients. The descent of the Alto de Bianditz is beautiful and over a good and wider road which is half open in many places and offers beautiful views of the fantastic Basque Country. There is not much traffic but keep to your lane and best on the side because in Spain one is not always courteous to the cyclists.
